The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday they have placed winger Scott Wilson on waivers.
Wilson hasn’t played a game with the Sabres this season due to an ankle injury he suffered in the preseason.
Should he go unclaimed, Wilson will likely be headed to Rochester on either a conditioning stint or possibly an extended stay with the Americans.
The move comes as a bit of a surprise. Wilson was signed to a two year contract extension in the offseason and all signs pointed to him being close to returning to the team.
