Sabres sign Phil Varone to a one-year deal

Buffalo locked up Rochester's leading scorer, who filed for salary arbitration earlier this off-season.

The Sabres have come to terms with their only player who filed for arbitration, signing forward Phil Varone to a one-year, two-way deal worth $600k.

Varone, 24, played in 28 games with the Sabres this season, scoring three goals and two assists. He lead the Americans in scoring with 15 goals and 29 assists, despite playing ten to 15 games less than many of his teammates. He was chosen as an AHL All-Star.

This season will be Varone's fifth in the organization.
