On Thursday afternoon, the Buffalo Sabres announced that the team had recalled veteran defenseman, Matt Tennyson from the Rochester Amerks. The 28-year-old blueliner hasn’t dressed in an NHL game since the Sabres’ 4-3 shootout loss to the Washington Capitals on December 15.
Since arriving in Buffalo as a free-agent signing in 2017, he has become a fan punching-bag of sorts given his lackluster play with the big club. In 19 games with Buffalo since 2017-18, he has failed to register a single point.
In 45 contests with Rochester this season, he’s managed to find the score sheet, posting 20 points on the year, which ranks him fourth among Amerks defenders.
