On the night before free agency opens, the Buffalo Sabres have retained two more restricted free agents with new deals. Both Jake McCabe and Cole Schneider have been re-signed and will be back with the Sabres organization next season.
The McCabe deal looks very good from the Sabres perspective - the young defenseman signed a three-year deal with an average cap hit of $1.6 million per season. McCabe has grown in to a reliable second-pairing blueliner, and at just 22 years old, this deal means he will still be an RFA when this deal is up.
