The Buffalo Sabres have re-signed forward C.J. Smith to a one-year contract with an AAV of $874,125, the team announced Monday afternoon.
The deal is a two-way contract (NHL/AHL).
Smith, 23, signed with Buffalo as a free agent in March 2017. He made his NHL debut that season, notching one assist in two games.
The forward spent this past season with the AHL’s Rochester Americans. There, he put up 44 points (17-27) in 57 games in his first full professional season. He was named to the AHL All-Star Challenge and earned MVP there.
