Sabres loan Casey Nelson to Amerks for conditioning assignment

The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning they’ve assigned defenseman Casey Nelson to the Rochester Americans of the AHL in conditioning loan.

The 26-year-old last played in a game on December 4th when he suffered an upper-body injury against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to the NHL CBA, Nelson cannot be with the Amerks longer than 14 days on conditioning loan.

The last few games would indicate that the Sabres could use some help defensively and Nelson was playing well before he was injured.

It’ll be interesting to see what Jason Botterill does with the roster to make room for Nelson’s return to the NHL.
