The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has assigned defenseman Chad Ruhwedel to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Ruhwedel was recalled on Friday prior to Buffalo's game against the Ottawa Senators because Carlo Colaiacovo was ruled out due to a lower-body injury. Ruhwedel logged 15:30 of ice time, recorded one shot on goal, three hits and two blocked shots in the Sabres' 3-1 win.
He also made a big play in the third period to clear the zone in what was a one-goal game.
The Amerks are in Binghamton tonight and Randy Cunneyworth can become Rochester's all-time winningest coach with a victory.
