Sabres announce Kyle Okposo will miss the rest of the season after cheek bone surgery

The Buffalo Sabres released some tough news today on forward Kyle Okposo. He’ll miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery to repair a broken bone in his cheek.

In case you missed it, Okposo was hit in the face by a dump attempt off the stick of Matt Irwin. He missed the remainder of the game and the severity of the injury was announced today. This comes at an unfortunate time as he was in the middle of a strong scoring stretch with 12 points in his last 17 games.

The 33-year-old forward battled injuries not only throughout this season, but over the last few years.
