Like most children in a hockey-loving family, Jamie McGinn and his brothers would grab their sticks and head outside.
They’d all name an NHL player they were going to be or a team for which they’d play. They would score and celebrate while pretending the small town of Fergus, Ont., was actually an NHL rink.
Amazingly, Jamie, Tye and Brock McGinn don’t have to pretend anymore. They’ve experienced the feeling for real.
Brock McGinn scored in the opening shift of his first NHL game Friday, joining his older brothers in the big-league goal column. Brock McGinn, who scored with 55 seconds off the clock for Carolina, is the fastest to score a goal in his NHL debut since the Sabres’ Alexander Mogilny did it in 20 seconds in 1989.
