Matt Hunwick continues to take steps towards being ready for NHL action.
The 33-year-old defenseman was acquired as part of the trade that sent Conor Sheary to the Buffalo sabres back in June.
He’s been out since training camp with a neck injury he suffered while training in the offseason.
After practicing with the team for the past few weeks, Hunwick, will take the next step towards a return.
Head coach Phil Housley said today he’ll be assigned to the Rochester Americans for a conditioning assignment. He’ll play in the Amerks game tomorrow at home against the Binghamton Devils and possibly Friday against the Cleveland Monsters.
