The Buffalo Sabres continue to make moves today to finalize their roster for the start of the regular season. After waiving three players this morning for assignment to the AHL, they sent another player down to the Amerks.
This time it was Swedish defenseman Lawrence Pilut. The 22-year-old had a strong training camp and looked closer to being NHL-ready than originally expected. He was solid defensively and showed his excellent puck-moving ability.
It’s not a bad thing that he’ll start the season in the AHL with the Amerks. He’ll be a big boost to the Rochester blue line and continue his development in his first North American pro season.
