The Buffalo Sabres continued their strong western Canada road trip with perhaps their best performance of the season against the Edmonton Oilers. The game started off pretty slow as neither team was generating much.
The visitors got the first goal of the game on their suddenly hot power play. Sam Reinhart deflected a Rasmus Ristolainen point shot by Cam Talbot in the later part of the opening period. The Sabres would take that 1-0 lead into the first period.
