The Sabres took quite a bit of time choosing the man to coach the Rochester Americans - so much time that some began to wonder what the holdup was. Turns out, the coach was employed by the team the entire time. Rochester has announced their next head coach is a familiar face, Randy Cunneyworth.
Cunneyworth was the Americans head coach from 2000 to 2008, making the playoffs six times. He was named the AHL's coach of the Year in 2006. Cunneyworth originally joined the coaching ranks as a player-coach with Rochester in 1999.
Following his departure from Rochester, he spent two seasons with the Trashers as an assistant from 2008 to 2010 before returning to head coaching duties with Hamilton.
