The Buffalo Sabres are ready to return from the NHL’s All-Star break and the team’s bye week. Also getting close to a return to game action: defender Casey Nelson, which puts the Sabres in an interesting position in regards to their blueline.
Nelson has been out of the lineup since December 4, when he suffered an upper-body injury during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He returned to the ice to skate “a couple weeks” ago and returned to practice drills with the team this past weekend.
There’s no specific timetable for his return, but all signs point to it being sooner rather than later.
