The Buffalo Sabres needed a forward heading into tonight’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, and they’ve got one.
The team announced Friday afternoon that they’ve recalled forward Phil Varone from the AHL’s Rochester Americans ahead of Friday’s game.
Varone comes into the Buffalo Sabres lineup in place of forward Dan Catenacci.
Catenacci, who’s played three NHL games since being recalled for the first time, was injured in Thursday’s 5-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Catenacci was hit by Flyers defenseman Radko Gudas near center ice with under four minutes to play.
He left the game and underwent concussion protocol afterwards.
