Powered by Sam Reinhart‘s first career NHL hat trick, the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Winnipeg Jets by a score of 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Not only was it a historic moment in the sense that it was Reinhart’s first three-goal game; it was also a historic moment of sorts for the Buffalo Sabres.
Sunday’s win marked the first time the Buffalo Sabres won in Winnipeg since February 10, 1993 – a span of exactly 22 years and 11 months.
Safe to say…. that’s a long time.
Reinhart’s hat trick was also the first by a Buffalo Sabres rookie since Jason Pominville did it ten years ago, in 2006.
