The Buffalo Beauts continue to make history, announcing the addition of pioneering goaltender Shannon Szabados. The Canadian national team netminder brings two Olympic gold medals to Buffalo, and was the runner-up in the 2018 games, losing to the American team in the shootout.
She was named the best goaltender in the tournament for the second time in her career.
Szabados last played professionally in the SPHL, first with the Columbus Cottonmouths and then with the Peoria Rivermen. Prior to her debut in men’s professional hockey, Szabodos was the first female athlete to play in the WHL.
