BUFFALO, NY – Having led the University at Buffalo men's tennis team to their first ever win over Harvard, junior Vilhelm Fridell was named the Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
At No. 1 singles, Fridell won the deciding match in a 4-3 victory at Harvard, who advanced to the Round of 32 at the NCAA Tournament last year. With the match all tied up at 3-3, Fridell overcame a first set defeat by Andy Zhou of Harvard and came back to win the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6.
