This weekend started with so much promise Friday for UB Softball, but after that 1-1 day, the Woo Pig Classic got steadily worse the Bulls, who were mercy-ruled by Northern Iowa today 10-1, one day after losing 6-1 to the Panthers.
UB again only scrapped together five hits against the Panthers, three of which (and four of their seven baserunners) came in the second inning, where first baseman Sarah Edwards drove in Danielle Lallos with a single to give the Bulls a short-lived 1-0 lead. Edwards with the hit extended her hitting streak to eight games.
The lead lasted only four pitches, as Northern Iowa got a leadoff single and prompt home run in the bottom of the second, and never looked back, ultimately scoring five in the frame off starting pitcher Ally Power and relief Bobbi Langlois.
