BUFFALO, NY – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) recently released new guidelines on dealing with the mental health of college athletes. With numerous programming centered around addressing the total person as well as the student-athlete experience, the University at Buffalo Athletic Department is well ahead of the curve when it comes to mental health awareness.
“We do a lot of cutting-edge programs and services around mental health. Mostly around the personal development of mental toughness and dealing with adversity,” Senior Associate Athletic Director for Athletic and Academic Performance Donald Reed said. “We do a lot of group think exercises from our tough talk conversations around pertinent current events and topics relating to student-athlete development.
