EVANSTON, IL – Bryan Lantry finished second and Jake Gunning took eighth on the final day at Midlands hosted by Northwestern University on Saturday. Lantry became the first wrestler in University at Buffalo history to advance to the championship match at Midlands - one of the nation's premiere wrestling tournaments.
After Lantry won all three of his matches yesterday, the redshirt-junior advanced to Saturday's semifinals. In the semifinals, Lantry rallied to defeat second-seed Scott Delvecchio of Rutgers. Lantry trailed, 3-1, in the third period before gaining a takedown to tie the match at three and then road out Delvecchio for the remainder of the match to earn the riding time point and the 4-3 victory.
