BUFFALO, NY – For the second time this season, University at Buffalo linebacker Khalil Hodge has been named the Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Hodge had a game-high 19 tackles and added one sack in a 14-13 loss to Northern Illinois on Saturday. He spearheaded a defensive effort that held NIU to a season-low 14 points. The junior linebacker had seven solo stops and assisted on 12 others.
Through seven games, Hodge is already over 100 tackles on the season with 101. The Stockton, CA native leads the nation in tackles per game, averaging 14.
