BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team defeated Akron in walkoff fashion, 6-5, at Nan Harvey Field on Wednesday. The Bulls earned their first conference series win of the season and improve to 7-23-1 overall, 4-3-1 in league play.
The Zips struck first in the top of the first, scoring a run on a UB error to take an early 1-0 lead but the Bulls would answer in the bottom of the inning as Jenelle Martinez blasted a two-run home run to right center to give UB a 2-1 lead.
Akron threatened in the top of the second but Ally Power escaped the jam with a fly out to right field to end the inning and then worked a 1-2-3 top of the third to maintain a one run lead.
