ATHENS, GA – The University at Buffalo softball team fell to #9 Georgia 14-1 in five innings in the opening game of the Red & Black Showcase at Turner Softball Stadium on Thursday.
The Georgia offense got to UB starter Lace Smith early and often, scoring 11 runs on 10 hits, including a stretch of straight hits to open the game, to take an 11-0 lead through one inning of play. The Bulldogs would add three runs on two hits and two errors in the second.
Anna Aguon recorded the Bulls first hit of the game in the top of the fifth on a double down the third base line to put runners on second and third and Jenelle Martinez would capitalize with an RBI single to third to give Buffalo its lone run of the game.
