It’s been a long time coming. Sammy Watkins has been running routes since June, but going against competition and playing in games is another level of intensity and demand on a surgically repaired foot. However, about five months removed from surgery Watkins is expected to play on Friday in Buffalo’s third preseason game at Washington.
“I think Sammy will (play),” said head coach Rex Ryan. “He probably won’t be in there a whole lot, but he’s scheduled to play.”
Watkins didn’t participate with his teammates until the second week of training camp and didn’t have back-to-back practice days until the third week of camp.
