Super Bowl 50: The last rodeo for QB Peyton Manning

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Sports can’t give us enough storybook endings.

Let an iconic player, or coach, call it a career after winning a championship game, and fans and media feel as if they’ve died and gone to heaven. We want the confetti and the tears streaming in unison. We want to be witnesses of those rare moments when someone actually does get to go out on top.

And in Super Bowl 50, the stage is set for Peyton Manning to provide such a finish to his mostly spectacular 18-year NFL career.

He’s playing coy publicly with his retirement plans, but the worst-kept secret in the NFL seems to be getting less secretive by the day.
