The NFL suspended former Bills LB Manny Lawson for two games, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The league was investigating whether Lawson had violated the league's personal conduct policy.
Lawson was released by the Bills as part of the team's final cuts.
Although it remains unclear what incident the league was investigating, Lawson has acknowledged he was charged in Scottsdale, Arizona, with misdemeanor disorderly conduct/domestic violence in February 2014.
Lawson denied there was any "physical violence" in the incident; the charges were later dropped upon the completion of a diversion program.
