Rex Ryan can easily identify the major problem that has plagued his defense this season. Fixing it, however, has proven to be much more of a challenge.
Ryan mentioned Buffalo’s need to stop the deep ball on four separate occasions at his press conference this week, and made an array of changes to try and address Buffalo’s struggles against the vertical attack.
The Bills have allowed seven completions of at least 50 yards through the first nine games this season. Last year, Buffalo only gave up three such plays. Throughout the 16-season playoff drought, the Bills have never given up more than six plays of over 50 yards in a season.
