Only three Buffalo Bills coaches have won their first game as the team’s head coach; Marv Levy in 1986, Rex Ryan in 2015, and Sean McDermott in 2017. This Sunday, McDermott looks to become the first Bills coach to win his opening two games with the team.
In 1986, Levy assumed command halfway through a dismal season. Buffalo was 2-7 and a mess. After a 16-12 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Levy’s team dropped their second game 34-24. A few weeks later, they beat the Kansas City Chiefs 17-14 for his second win.
