When the Buffalo Bills signed defensive end Trent Murphy to a three-year contract worth $22.5 million during the 2018 offseason, the team envisioned Murphy wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks.
Instead, during the first year of his deal, Murphy dealt with an assortment of injuries, including issues with his groin, ankle, and knee.
Murphy, 28, was able to contribute in his first action since 2016 after missing all of 2017 with an ACL tear and being suspended four games for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substances policy. Admittedly, Murphy had some rust when he returned to action with Buffalo last season.
