PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Rex Ryan got his coaching start, mullet and all, with Eastern Kentucky University in 1987. Now entering his 30th season in the profession, he's paying tribute to his past.
Ryan wore bright red Chuck Taylor sneakers to the Buffalo Bills' first practice Saturday, continuing an annual tradition at the start of each training camp.
"Back in the day, there was no shoe budget or anything," Ryan recalled Saturday. "You couldn't afford anything else, so Chuck Taylors were good. You coached every day in them. I've always done it. Even when I got in the NFL, college, all that stuff, I would do it.
