There are few more prestigious positions in the NFL than left tackle. Protecting the quarterback’s blind side is the most important role on the offensive line. Very few offensive linemen have the frame or athleticism to play left tackle in the pros.
Coming out of Temple, Dion Dawkins had the potential to be one of the few who could play the position in the NFL. Being one of the best lineman in the 2017 draft class, Dawkins seemed destined to play left tackle.
But in Buffalo where Cordy Glenn has manned that position for the last five seasons, the realization was immediate – if Dawkins is going to start in Buffalo, it would be at right tackle, a position he never played in college.
