There are 22 players on a football field at all times. Some are more important than others, though. As Buffalo Bills fans, we know this to be true and assume it about quarterbacks. We even go as far as to assign a “win” or a “loss” to that singular player despite how illogical that is.
But in doing so, we acknowledge that a player’s impact can be bigger than the man’s standing next to him. These “pivot players” change the complexity of the game when they’re on the field. It may not always be solely an overwhelming amount of talent that classifies a player in this manner.
