The Carolina Panthers lifted the interim tag Wednesday on Marty Hurney to officially make him their next general manager. Hurney was brought on after the firing of Dave Gettleman. Buffalo Bills’ Assistant Director of College Scouting, Lake Dawson was called in for a second interview but the Panthers went in Hurney’s direction.
Dawson had also interviewed for the Panthers GM job after the departure of Hurney in 2013. The job eventually went to Dave Gettleman. Dawson has also interviewed for three other GM positions, the Miami Dolphins’ in 2014, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the same year, and the Chicago Bears in 2015.
