A potential spot on the US Olympic team was going to be his top offseason priority. The 2012 Olympian was going to focus all of his energy on returning to the Olympic games in Rio this past summer to again compete in the long jump.
With the blessing of Bills head coach Rex Ryan, Goodwin’s diet, his training regimen, the weight he would carry on his 5-9 frame would all be geared toward landing a spot on the US Olympic track and field team.
Goodwin knew the risks that approach had on his NFL career, and the Bills knew how much the receiver could be jeopardizing a spot on Buffalo’s roster, especially if he in fact went to Rio to compete.
