Former Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy announced his retirement on Thursday, saying he was signing a one-day contract with the team that drafted him. He was a second-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles out of Pitt in 2009 and spent most of his life in Pennsylvania before being traded to Buffalo.
In 2015, the Bills sent linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Eagles in exchange for McCoy, who was supposed to come in as the focal point of a revamped rushing offense under head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman. He spent four years in Buffalo, rushing 885 times for 3814 yards and 25 touchdowns while being named to the Pro Bowl three times.
