EJ Manuel inactive; Josh Johnson serves as backup QB

The NFL career of EJ Manuel has already had its share of twists and turns with a handful of moves up and down Buffalo’s quarterback depth chart. On Thursday night there was another surprising change in course. Manuel was listed as one of the team’s seven inactive players for the Bills game against the Jets Thursday night.

Josh Johnson, who was signed by the club on Oct. 14th, is serving as the backup to starter Tyrod Taylor here in Week 10.

Johnson has a familiarity with offensive coordinator Greg Roman’s playbook having operated in his offensive system in the 2012 and 2014 offseasons with the San Francisco 49ers.
