Both the Buffalo Bills and the Carolina Panthers faced meager competition in week one, and each team came away victorious. The Bills defeated the New York Jets 21-12, in a game where the score was far closer than the actual game would have suggested. The Panthers trounced the San Francisco 49ers, winning 23-3 on the west coast.
The Panthers’ home opener will be a homecoming of sorts of many members of the Bills organization, as head coach Sean McDermott, general manager Brandon Beane, running back Mike Tolbert, wide receiver Kaelin Clay, cornerback Leaonard Johnson, and Swiss Army knife Joe Webb all return to Charlotte for the first time as members of the Bills’ organization.
