No female has ever held a full-time NFL coaching position before, but the Buffalo Bills are reportedly about to change that by naming Kathryn Smith their special teams quality control coach.
According to a report from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills are about to hire a woman, Kathryn Smith, as a full-time assistant coach, which will be the first time a female has held a full-time coaching gig in the NFL.
Per Florio, Ryan and the Bills will name Smith their special teams quality control coach; the paperwork has been filed with the league office, but the Bills have not officially confirmed the hire.
