The Buffalo Bills have added a linebacker and core special teams player to their roster, signing Tyler Matakevich. The former Pittsburgh Steeler played college ball at Temple University, was a seventh round draft selection, and is entering his fifth pro season.
Matakevich, 27, was a reserve linebacker but a tackling machine on special teams. In 2017, he led the team with 14 special teams tackles and added two blocked punts. In 2018, he had 10 tackles on special teams. This past year, Matakevich led the league with 16 special teams tackles.
Julian Stanford had been one of Buffalo’s leaders on special teams, as well as the backup middle linebacker, but he’s a free agent this year.
