With the 181st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills have selected safety Jaquan Johnson from the University of Miami.
Johnson, a senior, is coming off a year where he totaled 92 tackles and 2 interceptions in the Hurricanes’ defensive backfield. At 5’10” and 191 pounds, he isn’t the biggest or fastest player, but he has the traits that head coach Sean McDermott covets in terms of intangibles. He was a team captain last year in South Beach, and he shows tremendous leadership on and off the field.
Johnson totaled 252 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 7 pass breakups over 48 career games at the collegiate level.
