Once the Buffalo Bills’ roster hit 90 players, we knew every addition would mean a subtraction. That reality hit cornerback Charles Gaines on Thursday, turning into linebacker Gerald Hodges’ gain.
After providing optimism over a Hodges’ signing, head coach Sean McDermott came through and delivered with a valuable addition late in free agency. Playing inside linebacker, Hodges will fill a giant need for the Bills.
Charles Gaines joined the team late last season as a practice squad member and later signed a future contract when the season came to an end. He was in a tough race at cornerback, with plenty of depth available there are sure to be a few more cuts at the position.
