When the Buffalo Bills signed quarterback Joe Webb on Monday, they released safety Colt Anderson in order to make room on the roster. Anderson’s unemployment was short-lived, however. He re-signed with the Bills less than 24 hours after being released.
Safety is a position that the team has very little depth at after the final roster cuts. Before Anderson re-signed Tuesday, there was only one reserve safety on the roster behind starters Micha Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Bringing back Anderson assures that if one of the starters goes down, there is at least some contingency plan in place before resorting to putting one of the cornerbacks over the top of the defense.
