Buffalo Bills punting job won after roster moves

Related Topics: Austin Rehkow

The Buffalo Bills announced Sunday that the team has released punter Austin Rehkow and designated tight end Jason Croom as waived/injured. Croom suffered an ankle injury in Thursday’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He is likely to end up on injured reserve after clearing waivers.

The release of Rehkow assures that Colton Schmidt will be the Bills punter in 2017. Rehkow was brought in to compete with Schmidt for the job after Schmidt had a terrible 2016 campaign. Although it was not much of a competition, Schmidt took nearly all the reps during the preseason games.
