The Buffalo Bills promoted rookie wide receiver Cam Phillips to their 53-man roster on Thursday, cutting another rookie in Robert Foster to complete the transaction. The move was first announced by Phillips’s agent.
Phillips was an undrafted free agent signing owing largely to an awful 4.79 forty yard dash at his Pro Day. The receiver missed the end of his senior season with a foot injury. Phillips is the all-time leading receiver at Virginia Tech, with 236 catches for 3027 yards and 17 touchdowns over his four year career. Not known as a deep threat, Phillips earned praise for his tenacity, especially running after the catch, and his abilities as a possession receiver.
