Buffalo Bills place Alex Carrington on IR, release A.J. Tarpley

The Buffalo Bills made a couple of roster moves on Monday, placing veteran defensive lineman Alex Carrington on season-ending Injured Reserve and releasing undrafted rookie linebacker A.J. Tarpley.

Carrington reportedly tore his right quadriceps tendon during Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, bringing to an end his brief stint as a starter for the Bills' injury-depleted defensive line. The same thing happened to him in 2013, when the then-starter for Mike Pettine tore his left quadriceps tendon during the third game of the season. Carrington signed a one-year deal with the Bills this past offseason, meaning that he'll be a free agent once again this coming spring.
