In July, Kyle Peko’s wife, Giuliana, was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are part of the body’s immune system. On Wednesday, the Bills’ practice squad defensive tackle was overjoyed to tell his teammates that the cancer was in full remission.
Giuliana announced it on Twitter Tuesday night:
Peko said she had a PET scan on Monday and “nothing lit up”. She was scheduled for 12 rounds of chemotherapy over the next six months but has completed four rounds.
Peko was one of the team’s final cuts and one of the first players re-signed to the practice squad at the beginning of September.
