Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Jerel Worthy incurred a head injury in the team's preseason game versus the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. Worthy was helped off of the field by the team’s training staff, walked directly to the locker room, and the team later announced that he would not return and was being evaluated for a head injury.

On the final play of the first quarter, Worthy collided with teammate Joe Powell as the two tried to bring down Lions quarterback Jake Rudock.

Worthy started the game in place of Kyle Williams.
