Buffalo Bills defense ground Jets’ rushing attack

If Sunday’s season-opening win over the New York Jets is any indicator, the Buffalo Bills defense is back to its run-stuffing ways. The Bills' starting defense, which dominated opponents during the preseason, allowing only nine points over 16 possessions, continued that momentum during a 21-12 win at New Era Field.

Facing the two-headed monster of Matt Forte and Bilal Powell, Buffalo’s stout defense limited the Jets to 38 rushing yards on 15 carries, an average of 2.53 yards per carry.

“We wanted to control the line of scrimmage,” first-year head coach Sean McDermott said after the game.
