Buffalo Bills announce Phil McGeoghan as wide receiver coach, along with four other hirings

Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott’s 2017 staff is continuing to take shape. Thursday the team announced a key hire, naming Phil McGeoghan as the team’s wide receivers coach, while also announcing the hiring of John Egorugwu, Marc Lubick, Matt Smiley and Bill Teerlinck.

McGeoghan (pronounced muh-GAY-gehn), takes over the reins from former Bills wide receiver coach Sanjay Lal. McGeoghan, 37, comes to Buffalo after spending the last two seasons in the college ranks, coaching the same position at East Carolina University. During his time there, McGeoghan oversaw the development of star receiver Isaiah ‘Zay’ Jones, who broke the all-time NCAA record for catches (399), and also set the single-season receptions mark in 2016 by catching 158 passes.
